Chris Miller
Draftfcb Chicago
Chris has created, built and led businesses in the digital marketing space for close to 20 years, most recently in his role as SVP, group management director, digital, at Draftfcb Chicago. In his work, he combines a relentless pursuit of perfection with a passion for experimenting, traits that have served him and his clients well across the shifting digital landscape.
At Draftfcb, Chris is responsible for evolving the agency’s digital work across disciplines and client offerings while setting the agency’s vision and direction in the digital space. He works across most clients including MilkPEP, Sharpie, Kraft and USPS.
Prior to joining Draftfcb in 2008, Chris was a co-founder of Tractiv, which Element79 acquired in 2005 to build out its digital competencies. While at Element79, he led the digital strategy and operations for the agency as chief digital officer while also taking an active role with new business development and clients.
Throughout his career, Chris has also co-founded and led chemistri (now Arc Worldwide), one of the top interactive agencies in North America. He also worked in the Leo Burnett network, growing from manager to EVP/director, and started two design companies. Along the way he’s worked on Gatorade, Nintendo, Allstate, adidas, Disney and McDonald’s. He’s been an early adopter of technology—starting with the Macintosh in 1984, digital pre-press in the early 90’s and ultimately the internet.
A past member of Apple’s Customer Advisory Board, Chris can often be found with sleeves rolled up, engaging in conversations on digital marketing. He has been a frequent speaker at industry events and universities such as ad:tech, MacWorld, Seybold Seminars, Siggraph, DePaul, and Northwestern.
Chris is a graduate of Drake University’s Journalism program, where his love for learning fueled him to major in three disciplines—advertising, radio/TV and media graphics—and he left one class shy of a fourth.
Outside of the office he enjoys teaching scuba diving and is part owner of a dive shop in St. Thomas, USVI. When not under the water he can be found wake boarding, kite surfing and most recently trying fresh water surfing. All of this he enjoys alongside his Scottish wife. Both are fortunate to share their house with two cats and a German Shepherd.
